An ace new podcast dedicated to film festivals, The Film Festival Insider, recently invited me to share my experiences on the festival circuit — great timing, as I’m in the midst of firing off submissions for my new short film The Fallen Woman.
The show is hosted by filmmaker and festival organiser Spencer Hawken (co-organiser of the Romford Film Festival and the Romford Horror International Film Festival).
Spencer reached out after my short film Friend screened at RHIFF earlier this year, and this was an awesome opportunity to get the lowdown on everything festival-related from a seasoned insider.
If you’re an indie filmmaker and have been burned by festival rejections in the past (and you’re an indie filmmaker, so of course you have), this is an absolute must-listen. Spencer is refreshingly honest and offers some solid gold advice for building a festival strategy.
